First off I want to thank everyone used the power of prayer for Julie..she got her surgery and came up the day i left and ended up in my room! It was kinda funny...ok not funny. Today she went back down to the ICU though. So please, keep up the prayers.
As for me on Thursday night I woke up at 2:45 freeeezing and with a high temperature. I thought it might had been dilaudid withdrawal, because I'm weening myself off it, and my first goal was to sleep through the night (besides having to "tinkle" -kid friendly blog! and also to empty my ileostomy because the TPN runs at night .) I was doing not so bad sleeping through the night. So I took a dilaudid and when my temp kept rising I was getting more and more nervous and anxious. Through my panic i thought I was short of breathe but I think if was getting nervous and thinking about it too much and thankfully i have ativan for extreme cases of anxiety and i figured this was one. It actually calmed me down a lot, i was breathing ok. Once we got the the ER waiting room we only waited about 10 minutes. I was told by someone who works in the ER she's seen people wait for 30 hours. I'd probably feel better by then anyways. So anyways once we got up here finally and I've found out that i had a positive blood culture so I have to get some antibiotics for a couple days. We'll see how that goes. Oh also the vertical stiches I have they took out every other one! I'm on my way!
Lots of love,
Sammy

You are always in our thoughts, prayers and conversations here at the PD. Your sense of humor is amazing through all your challenges and the Jello video brought smiles to everyones face as we watched....may you keep growing stronger and healthier and may those silly intestines figure out what they're suppose to be doing...

Thanks for the updates Sammy. What you have no way of realizing is that for those of us who may have met you briefly, but don't "know" you (myself included), your blog and your continued bravery and spirit and fight are constant reminders that the problems and issues we may be dealing with in our own lives are fairly insignificant in the big scheme of things.
Trust me, every day that I face an endless barrage of problems (and some of them not altogether trivial), you and your blog come to mind.
So thank you, and what I wish in return for you is that you are soon in a place where your daily life issues become such that you too can find "perspective" in someone else's heroism and tenacity.
