Hop Hop Hopin' to the Hospital

(Just a reminder you can click on the pictures to view them in a larger window)

First of all, Happy late Easter to everyone! I hope you had a great time spent with loved ones, good food, and maybe even some treats from the easter bunny!  The past couple weeks after the last blog haven't been too bad.  I'm finally starting to get a bit more energy, and be a little more active.  (No laughing..) I've been doing Wii fitness as a fun way to help myself a little bit with some exercise.  I use it mostly for balance, as I've lost that.  Last time I tried to ride a bike I hit a telephone pole..woops.  My weight is finally starting to pack on, which I'm assuming means my intestines are finally absorbing like they should.  I'm actually super tired right now, I played with the night nurses last night instead of sleeping, so sorry I'm gonna keep this short and hopefully explain more later.  I came in Friday morning (like 3 am) b/c I had a high fever and my counts are always going to be low now bc of my immuno-supresants.  My first blood culture came back positive which we were anticipating, so they believe I have another staff infection in my port.  They hope to get rid of it with antibiotics (ceftazidime and vanco.)  If they can't get rid of it the port will have to be surgically removed.  If we do clear it however, and it comes back again soon (it would be the 3rd time since being home) they would remove it without trying to clear it.  It's kind of a 3 strikes your out rule here.. if it comes back that many times they believe its 'living' in your port, and not going anywhere.  So hopefully we can cure this, and we're hoping to do the reversal of my ostomy down in Miami soon.  I cannot wait.  I'll try and keep you posted on what happens.
On Sunday the Easter bunny stopped by my room and gave a pretty sweet basket of goodies!  Also I got another sweet treat b/c my whole family came and spent the day here so we could all be together on the holiday (since I spend them all in the hospital.)  Have a great week everyone

  Lots of love,
     Sammy
