Sammy's Surgery

Hi everyone, it's Alex!

I'm writing to update you on Sammy's surgery today. The day didn't start off too well.... they arrived at the hospital at 9:15 but it turned out they were told the wrong time and really didn't need to be there until 11:45 and she actually didn't get into surgery until 2:00. But finally after hours of waiting around she went in and everything went well. They put a camera in through her cute little innie/outtie belly button, as Sam likes to call it, and took another sample. Hopefully this one will FINALLY give us some answers!! She wasn't feeling too hot when she got out of surgery so she demanded lots of morphine. She's pretty drugged up right now, so that's good. (Although she must not be drugged up enough because she didn't break into song when she came out from being put under like when she had her ACL surgery... she belted out Bohemian Rapsody from start to finish, giving the nurses, my parents, and probably every patient in her hallway quite the laugh!)

She's spending the night at the hospital and can go home early tomorrow morning. She sounded ready to pass out when I talked to her a couple minutes ago, but she has her own room and a plasma TV to keep her occupied when she's not sleeping. When I asked her what she was watching she said "Ants." I asked her why she was watching kids movies instead of regular channels to which she replied, "I flipped through but didn't find the Food Network so Disney movies were the obvious way to go." Typical Sam.

The doctors didn't know when the test results would come in and they'd finally have answers for us, but hopefully it will be soon. I know Sam has written this also, but I know she really appreciates all the support she's been getting from everyone... as does our whole family. She's surrounded by a lot of loving people and I know it will continue to help. So keep the happy thoughts comin' cuz I miss my roommate here at school! :)

Sam sends lots of love!
......and me too!
