Hi everyone,
Sam did get discharged from the hospital Tuesday night but after a few rough nights we had to make a emergency trip back to see her doctor. At home Sam was being given TPN at night which was causing problems. TPN stands for Total Parenteral Nutrition. It is a intravenously administered feeding through her port which then by-passes the stomach & digestive system. The nourishment goes into her blood system where it is processed by her liver, giving her essential fluids and nutrients. The TPN is custom made for her, adding the needed/required vitamins, based on her most recent lab work (blood draws). However the TPN was causing some severer nausea/dry heaves. Because of that, she was also unable to take any food or drink by mouth. Sam is also still having issues with fluid building up around both lungs. All this has left Sam very weak. The good news is they did send her home, but with more tubes, oxygen and riding on a wheel chair. Sam has been spending most of her time sleeping, however yesterday she finally had a few good hours and was able to get out on the balcony to enjoy some fresh air. She is working hard to try and feel better for her friends which are coming in tomorrow to visit.
Other people have been inquiring as to where to stay for visit. The most convenient place would be at: The Mutiny Hotel, which is located at 2951 S Bayshore Dr, in Coconut Grove FL 33133. www.mutinyhotel.com or 305 441-2100. If you want other options or help with the plans please let me know as I would be glad to help.
On my last post I mentioned the American Airlines mile program. Since then I have learned there is a added cost to donating/transferring miles. It would be a lot cheaper to buy tickets straight up then utilizing that program. Sorry to all who spent the time and effort trying to work that out.
Lastly is it true my beloved Blackhawk’s are actually on TV? Sam and I both look forward to coming home in time to watch them as they gear up for the playoffs. We really have missed the fun of hockey playoffs this past decade.
Lots of Love,
Chris

Hi,
Sorry to hear about the trip back to the hospital. They said it would be a roller coaster, hang in there!! You are in our prayers!
Glad to hear that Sam is feeling alittle better. It's cold up here and we got alittle snow last night.. I'm sure Sam will enjoy her visitors and the better weather!
Enjoy watching the Hawks!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

We want to wish you, Sammy, and your family a Happy Thanksgiving. We are grateful for family and friends and all the blessings of this country. We also are very grateful for the doctors and nurses who care for Sammy and for the faith, endurance and spirit given by you all. You have taught us so much by your example. We hope the dips in this roller coaster ride you are on will not be as steep in the future and that you will very soon be going up that track to feeling better and getting stronger. Our prayers are with you.
Love, Mary and John
Beautiful Sam,
It's me, Taylor's Mom. I don't usually communicate with you via the blog but here's a little sumpin, sumpin for you. You know that I always carry you in my heart and that I send you healing energy to help you through to the end of this journey. No one knows the challenges you have pushed through but you. And, I can only imagine how god awful tired you must feel. But, like any marathon worth running, the last mile is always the most difficult. And while we are all up here in Illinois and you are down in Miami without all of your family around you, hold the vision of all those that love you and, like a marathon race, stand on the sidelines lovingly encouraging you to get to the finish line. You may be out of sight, but you are never out of our minds. I Love you and here's some more OXOX's for you!
