A little message from Sammy's faaavorite sibling :)

Hi everyone!  It's Alex, and I'm here with Sammy and the whole fam in (not so sunny) Florida!  I'm shocked at how amazing Sammy looks.  I was expecting her to look, well, like she just had a 5-organ transplant.  But instead she is looking incredibly healthy and has some awesome battle scars to show off.  It's so great to be able to spend some time with her.  Oh yeah, and I guess my parents too :)

Recently, I was contacted by Tricia Melzer-Swaydrak.  She informed me that she is singing in a spiritual concert at the Glenview Community Church, which she has done before.  The concert is free, but there is a free will offering during the concert to benefit a cause of her choosing.  After hearing of Sammy's successful surgery, she so kindly asked if the money raised at the concert could go towards Sammy's fund.  The concert, titled "Ain't-a-That Good News," is on November 2nd at 5:00.  You can find out more information at:

We hope a lot of you can make it!  And on this note, Tony's CCD teacher came up with a fundraiser called "Sweets for Sam."  They are selling candy, t-shirts and armbands after the Saturday, November 1st, 5:00 mass at OLPH, and again after all the masses on the same day as the concert-- Sunday, November 2.  Don't mix the events up though... 2 different churches!  Carisa, Tony and I are going to be quite the little church-goers that day!

I know Sam and my parents have given their fair share of blog thank-you's, but I just want to say again how amazing all of this is.  Without these fundraisers and the incredible generosity of so many people, we wouldn't have been able to fly out here for the weekend (let alone many other things!)  So thank you very much everyone for all that you are doing to make this situation easier!

But enough of this, and I'm sure you want to be hearing from Sammy anyways!  I'm sure she'll update you soon, and hopefully have some great things to say about our weekend all together here in Miami!

XOXO,
Alex

Tricia is my Aunt, and she has asked that if you are attending the concert, to please wear the 1 Tuff Cookie shirts that were sold last spring if you have one. It would be great to have as may people in yellow to show the support for Sam!

Hope you all had a nice time together!

Sam
So glad you are feeling well!! That is awesome that your sister came to visit bc I know that is a bright spot during the long hospital stay. Katia called me and told me she got to work with you. She is great and Caroline loves getting massages from her. Hope the smooth recovery continues and you'll be out in no time hanging in Miami for a while. Also know that Caroline got her NG tube about 50 ish days after surgery so that is coming too! She was so ready for that it gave her a lot of nausea. Hope to see you soon.
Love
