Preliminary diagnosis

Hi. This is Dolly. Sam asked me to update everyone on today. She spent two hours in surgery having a port put in for chemo and a bone marrow biopsy on both hips. The Dr.'s don't expect to find anything in the bones because they now believe her cancer to be pancreatic blastoma. A very rare cancer where only a hand full of cases have been documented in this country. At this time, with the help of MD Anderson, they are trying to come up with a plan of attack. The hope is for the chemo to shrink the tumors so they can be surgically removed. Sam has another very long and busy schedule tomorrow at the UIC
As usual, Sams spirits are high with an amazing attitude. What a kid! (If only her puppy was half as good!) At least Sam doesn't chew on our furniture any more. Well, not as much.
Lots of love from Sammy
